About Mantle Group

Founded by passionate, highly professional, and experienced operators who were once ex-MSP professionals and biotech IT leaders, Mantle Group’s purpose is to break the IT anti-patterns. These include low-quality services, inexperienced staff, tools-first approaches, poor customer service, and high churn.

  • We’ve done IT and cybersecurity across many contexts, including:

    • Venture capital

    • Private equity

    • Manufacturing

    • Biotech

    • Pharma

    • IT services

    • Technology startups

    • Wealth advisors

    • Infrastructure

  • A different way of taking responsibility for IT.

Mantle Group exists to address a gap in how IT, cybersecurity, compliance, and digital transformation is typically delivered — not a lack of tools or effort, but a lack of clear ownership and evolving strategy that is balanced to the objectives of the business.

We excel in our ability to not only understand a business - its strategy, interpret its financial statements, speak non-tech to business audiences - but also leverage our strong engineering backgrounds to architect, build, and manage amazing ecosystems.

Our Team

A man with light-colored hair and wearing a black shirt standing in an industrial-style office with large windows and exposed brick walls.
  • Mark has spent over 20 years in biotech IT—the first half building and leading internal teams at growing companies, the second half working as a consultant and service provider.

What drives him is building relationships and delivering IT that just works, so you don't have to think about it.

Mark is passionate about helping startup companies lay a solid IT foundation without falling into the typical traps of most service providers.

Mark is a strong believer that fractional IT is the future—giving companies access to reliable strategy and scalable, bespoke infrastructure without the price tag of a full-time IT executive or the waste of traditional MSPs.

When he’s not solving IT challenges, you'll find Mark hiking, hanging out with his dogs and family, cooking something nutritious and delicious, or getting creative behind the drums with his band.

  • Nick has had the benefit of being both a Consumer and a Provider of services.

Between working for Managed Services Providers (general and industry-specific) and a Digital Therapeutics organization, he is guided by a consistent philosophy: ensure technology serves people rather than forcing people to adapt to technology. (Be a true IT Director/Steward rather than an IT Dictator)

To deliver service, Nick chooses to provide clients with a choose-your-own-adventure map, making clear the options, consequences, and pathways while respecting that each organization's journey is unique. His delivery philosophy centers on three core principles: radical ownership (ensuring clients maintain ownership/portability of their digital resources), scalability (implementing solutions that grow with organizations), and ethical practice (doing right by people).

Nick’s philosophy is that while anyone can start an IT consultancy "with a backpack and an iFixit toolkit,” (or, in more modern terms, a Claude subscription and a backpack), the real value comes from blending technical requirements with an empathetic understanding of human needs.

Nick spends his free time on the open streets with his road bicycle (more often than not, towing his son in the back), playing a good amount of Escape from Tarkov, or relaxing with the family.

  • Alexander focuses on aligning IT, cybersecurity, cloud, and digital solutions to real business outcomes – e.g., enabling scale, improving efficiency, supporting growth, or preparing organizations for long-term transformation.

He's a highly credentialed technology and security leader with experience across high-growth, regulated, and complex environments and operations.

Recently, he's been responsible for setting enterprise-wide strategy across Enterprise IT, R&D IT, cybersecurity, and AI—guiding long-term planning, investment decisions, and governance while supporting business growth and organizational continuity.

He's led and operated technology environments from the ground up, shaped cross-functional digital strategy, and partnered with executive leadership on enterprise risk, data protection, and innovation readiness. His recent work includes designing secure, resilient network infrastructure for mission-critical operations, deeply technical compliance environments, business partnering across stakeholder groups, and mentoring technology professionals.

His approach is focused on first principles and systems thinking. He cares about building pragmatic solutions that reduce friction, protect value, and accelerate decision-making.

In his free time, Alexander enjoys spending time with his family and indulging in his hobbies throughout the Reno-Tahoe region, often mountain biking, hiking, running, and snowboarding.

Our Purpose & Perspective

Most IT environments don’t fail because they’re neglected.

They fail because they’re managed to remain functional, not designed to endure.

As organizations grow, systems accumulate decisions made by many parties over time. Responsibility fragments. Risk becomes harder to reason about.

Mantle Group collaborates with leadership teams when merely maintaining operations is no longer sufficient. We partner with our clients, actively listening and thoughtfully applying our expertise, so that technology becomes a reliable asset rather than a source of frustration.

Our Approach

Our work is focused on human interaction.

We engage with clients to understand how technology intersects with people, workflows, and risk.

Instead of relying on predefined frameworks, we carefully consider each decision, using experience and open dialogue. The result is not just improved IT, but environments that align with how businesses operate.

At Mantle Group, senior technologists assess systems holistically, making informed trade-offs and taking responsibility for outcomes without layers or handoffs.

Our focus is simple:

- Understand system behavior

- Design architecture intentionally

- Reduce fragility over time

The goal is not just better support metrics; it’s to create systems leaders can trust.

What Guides the Work

Mantle Group is guided by a few principles:

- Systems should be understandable

- Responsibility should be clear

- Decisions should age well

Good IT feels right.
